The long-dormant space that once held one of Toronto’s SoulCycle locations is about to get a new lease on life, as an Ontario-based luxury wellness brand prepares to move in.
I still can’t talk about the closure of Toronto’s SoulCycle locations without getting a little choked up.
Okay, that might be a bit dramatic, but so is SoulCycle, and I lived for their dimly-lit, pseudo-motivational, wildly intense classes before the Covid-19 pandemic brought the U.S.-based indoor cycling empire’s Canadian contingent to a screeching halt.
It’s probably for the best, though, because, if the pandemic hadn’t taken the brand out, the revelation of owner Stephen Ross’ documented support for the Trump administration, particularly today, amid the President’s still-looming threats of tariffs and annexation, almost certainly would have.
Even still, passing by vacant spaces on King West, which was later repurposed by elleTO Fitness, and Yorkville, has left me with a small sense of yearning — but that’s soon to change.
The Yorkville space left behind by SoulCycle is soon to be filled in by the new Toronto flagship location of Hamilton’s Supernatural, a luxury wellness studio that offers a complete suite of both aesthetic and holistic treatments.
Dividing their services into “inward” and “outward” treatments, Supernatural offers everything from Cryotherapy, IV Drips and Naturopathic services to fillers, botox and laser hair removal.
According to 6ix Retail, the new club will also include a number of innovative services available to consumers for the first time, like hyperbaric oxygen chambers, vibroacoustic floors and genetic testing facilities.
It’s basically a one-stop shop for your average Yorkvillite, even if it sounds a bit like something out of a sci-fi movie.
The business also doubles as a social club where clients — called “Superbeings” in the brand’s cannon — can meet, relax and bio-optimize together.
It’s in good company, too, taking up residence in the same block as Myodetox, Equinox and Whole Foods. Not too shabby a replacement for my once-beloved SoulCycle.
While no official opening date has been announced, 6ix Retail reports that it’s set to open its doors this Summer, and anyone with Superbeing aspirations this Summer can RSVP for an invite to their launch event through their website.
Supernatural will be located at 55 Avenue Road.
