A Toronto barbershop that’s garnered a cult following in the city is closing down after four fruitful years in the neighbourhood.

Founded in 2021 by Jordan, a West Aukland-born barber and his wife, Chelsea, The Fantail Barbers is Brockton Village’s own “touch of Aotearoa,” built on the premise of using that signature Kiwi warmth to warm the cold, frozen hearts of Toronto residents.

Oh, and to give great haircuts as well, obviously.

After four years spent building a devoted clientele, though, The Fantail is calling it quits on the shop, as they recently took to their Instagram account to share the news.

“This decision comes with great thought and consideration, and while it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the shop, we are excited for what’s ahead,” the caption of the post reads.

“However, we’re happy to share that our talented barbers will continue working in the city, and we encourage you to follow them to their new locations. They’ll be ready to take care of you and keep providing the high-quality service you’ve come to expect.”

It’s not too late to book one last lineup at the shop before they’re gone for good, though. Fantail will remain open until March 22, giving all their regulars a chance to say goodbye — and look their best — before the chapter closes.

At the time of publication, The Fantail has not offered additional comment on the reasons behind the shop’s closure.

The Fantail Barbers is located at 1122 College Street.
