Stat holidays in Ontario for 2025 might just be the first dates you plug into your calendar once the clock strikes midnight on Jan. 1, already eager for your next long weekend or extra day off.

While the majority of stat holidays throughout the year are celebrated across the entire country, there are a few that are only observed in Ontario, while others aren’t honoured here at all, so it’s always important to keep track of which holidays really count.

Here are all the stat holidays in Ontario 2025.

  • Wednesday, Jan. 1 – New Year’s Day
  • Monday, Feb. 17 – Family Day
  • Friday, April 18 – Good Friday
  • Monday, April 21 – Easter Monday
  • Monday, May 19 – Victoria Day
  • Tuesday, July 1 – Canada Day
  • Monday, August 4 – Civic Holiday
  • Monday, Sept. 1 – Labour Day
  • Monday, Oct. 13 – Thanksgiving
  • Thursday, Dec. 25 – Christmas Day
  • Friday, Dec. 26 – Boxing Day

While Easter Monday and Civic Holiday are recognized as optional holidays, many employers may choose to give their employees the day off anyway.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation falls on Tuesday, September 30 and while it’s not technically a stat holiday in Ontario many employers now observe it and give their staff the day off.
