A stunning Georgian-style home in Toronto built back in 1911 is very much like taking a step into the past.

Even better, the owners have redone the house in a way that still looks straight out of 1911, but with all the comforts of a modern home.

For example, as realtor Stuart Sankey shares in the video tour of the home, the living room has original moulding and wood-panelled walls.

The foyer.

However, the wood-panelled walls were removed during the renovation, sent to Montreal, professionally restored, and re-installed.

60 Indian Grove Toronto

The fireplace in the office.

It’s that type of commitment to the original character and charm of the house that really makes 60 Indian Grove stand out.

The staircase and stained glass windows.

Another standout feature is the central staircase, which is entirely wood with ornate banisters that go up three storeys.

The kitchen.

On the main floor there are all the principal rooms.

The living room.

The living room is perhaps the most stunning room of them all, with the wood panelling, ornate moulded ceilings and cozy fireplace.

Another view of the living room.

It is so stunning, in fact, that it was featured in the JFK miniseries, The Kennedys, and last year’s Fritos Christmas commercial, among other movies and commercials, Sanskey told blogTO.

The dining room.

The formal dining room comes complete with a built-in hutch, coffered ceilings, and wood wainscotting.

The breakfast nook in the kitchen.

The retro-inspired kitchen is very 80s but balances vintage charm with practical function.

The parlour.

There’s also a cozy parlour on the main floor, which is accessed through leaded-glass French doors.

One of the bedrooms.

60 Indian Grove boasts four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Another bedroom with a window bench.

The second floor features three spacious bedrooms.

The office.

There’s also a wrap-around corner office boasting west-facing windows, so there’s tons of natural light.

The primary bedroom.

On the third floor is the primary suite that serves as a retreat.

The primary ensuite bathroom.

It features cathedral ceilings and an ensuite bathroom with a luxurious soaker tub.

Another bathroom with a clawfoot tub.

Although the aesthetics might be too retro for some tastes, the light and bones of this house are incredible.

A bedroom.

And that’s probably all down to the fact that Georgian homes were designed to embrace natural light and offer a more open, airy feel compared to earlier architectural styles, which means they’re as inviting today as they were over a century ago.

The basement.

In the basement, 60 Indian Grove has a separate one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, exposed brick walls and a cozy fireplace.

The foyer fireplace.

This house has actually has four fireplaces, there’s even one in the foyer which is goals.

As for outdoor space, 60 Indian Grove has a lot of space on the deep 137-foot lot. There’s even enough room for a potential laneway house.

The backyard.

There are also lots of trees, making it private, but the backyard definitely has room for improvement with some more landscaping. The barren grass/dirt isn’t very Georgian, after all.

The back of the house.

60 Indian Grove is listed for $4,348,000.
