As long as the NHL is playing games, you can probably find someone arguing about the Toronto Maple Leafs’ chances to win the Stanley Cup.

Toronto is currently first place in the Atlantic Division and has the fourth-highest points total in the league with 74.

And while they might not exactly be favoured to do so, FanDuel Sportsbook currently offers the Leafs a tie for the eighth-best odds at winning it all, with +1300 odds to be champions come June.

Last year’s Stanley Cup finalist Edmonton Oilers have the league’s best odds at +650, while the Carolina Hurricanes and the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers round out the top three at +700 and +850, respectively.

In terms of other Canadian teams, the Winnipeg Jets (+1100), Ottawa Senators (+4100), Vancouver Canucks (+5000), Calgary Flames (+20000) and Montreal Canadiens (+40000) all have varying levels of a shot at being named the victors this year.

Given that Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver are all currently on the outside looking in of the playoff race, they’ll have a longer hill to climb if they’re looking to go on a Stanley Cup run this year.

Here’s how the odds for each of the 32 teams shake out:

  • Edmonton Oilers, +650
  • Carolina Hurricanes, +700
  • Florida Panthers, +850
  • Dallas Stars, +950
  • Washington Capitals, +1100
  • Winnipeg Jets, +1100
  • Colorado Avalanche, +1200
  • Toronto Maple Leafs, +1300
  • Vegas Golden Knights, +1300
  • New Jersey Devils, +1300
  • Tampa Bay Lightning, +1700
  • Los Angeles Kings, +2100
  • Minnesota Wild, +3000
  • New York Rangers, +3500
  • Ottawa Senators, +4100
  • Vancouver Canucks, +5000
  • Boston Bruins, +6000
  • New York Islanders, +12000
  • Utah Hockey Club, +14000
  • Detroit Red Wings, +14000
  • Columbus Blue Jackets, +20000
  • Nashville Predators, +20000
  • Calgary Flames, +20000
  • Philadelphia Flyers, +30000
  • Pittsburgh Penguins, +40000
  • Montreal Canadiens, +40000
  • Seattle Kraken, +55000
  • Buffalo Sabres, +55000
  • St. Louis Blues, +55000
  • Chicago Blackhawks, +75000
  • Anaheim Ducks, +75000
  • San Jose Sharks, +75000

Toronto’s odds are a slight improvement from the start of the season, where they were offered at +1500 odds, good enough for ninth in the league.

Looking back at the start of the season, teams like the New York Rangers and Nashville Predators had odds within a similar range as Toronto, but have fallen far down the list.

Meanwhile, Washington has undoubtedly been the league’s biggest surprise, with FanDuel now giving them the fifth-best odds at winning it all this postseason.

The NHL regular season ends on April 17, with the playoffs a little under two months from getting underway.
