Along with the 38 entire weekend closures the TTC has planned for repair work in 2025, surface-level commuters also have some less-than-ideal service adjustments to look forward to this year.
In the commission’s recently-released review of network closures and diversions in 2024, and forecast for 2025/2026, it is recommending a total of 24 full streetcar diversions, largely due to necessary state-of-good-repair work and, to a lesser degree, infrastructure enhancements.
These will affect the 501 Queen (three full diversions), 504 King (four diversions), 505 Dundas (three), 506 Carlton (eight), 507 Long Branch (one), 509 Harbourfront (four) and 510 Spadina (one).
A deck heading to the TTC Board meeting on Monday anticipates 24 full diversions and 77 nightly diversions on a handful of Toronto’s streetcar lines.
Alongside these changes, those riding the rails will also face a whopping 77 nightly diversions, with five capital projects impacting the city’s streetcar system.
This construction is in the works at College and McCaul Streets, King and Dufferin Streets, Bathurst and Fleet Streets, King and Church Streets, and on Queen Street East between the famed De Grassi Street and Broadview Avenue.
The TTC Board will address the report in its next meeting on January 27, likely approving the outlined diversions.
