Here’s what police have reported so far:
- 3 male suspects entered the pub around 10:30 p.m. One man was armed with an assault rifle and the other two were armed with handguns.
- The suspects “opened fire indiscriminately” inside the pub which had numerous people inside eating and drinking and standing at the bar.
- The motive for the shooting remains unclear but some media have inquired whether the shooting is related to the tow truck turf war that has been plaguing Toronto.
The shooting was captured on video and apparently shows how indiscriminate the shooting was. The video has not yet been released.
Paul MacIntyre, Superintendent in the Organized Crime Enforcement Unit, spoke to reporters near the scene of the mass shooting at Piper Arms Pub early Saturday morning.

Piper Arms pub is located at 520 Progress Avenue near the Scarborough Town Centre. It’s just one of the pub’s many locations in the Toronto area. This location was first announced back in 2023 but the shooting took place on the pub’s official opening night.
