Premiers in Eastern Canada are once again calling on residents to buy local as Canada squares off against the United States in an escalating trade war.
Prince Edward Island Premier Rob Lantz issued a news release Sunday urging Islanders to seek out products produced in Canada and in their home province.

Lantz said every dollar spent on goods from Canada or P.E.I. supports the local people and businesses behind the product.
New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt made a similar plea on Saturday, saying businesses in her province will be hit with U.S. President Donald Trump’s new 50 per cent tariffs on some Canadian imports.
Holt called on New Brunswickers to double down on their efforts to buy local and support businesses in the province.
On Saturday, Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette said if each family in the province bought $25 worth of local products every week, roughly $3 billion would be injected back into the economy.
