In the world of architecture and interior design, there is always a lot of talk of trends, what’s in style, what’s a big ick, etc.

But 165 Sherwood Ave. shows us that if you have taste, it doesn’t really matter what you do, and your house will still look awesome even if it was built in the ’70s.

Custom-built in 1977, this home has been with the same family since.

The living room and family room.

And while some parts definitely hint at its late 70s roots, the home has a timeless look that doesn’t really place it in any distinct era.

165 Sherwood Ave.

Pocket doors connect the kitchen and dining room.

Boasting over 3,000 square feet of living space, four bedrooms, four bathrooms and incredible light, 165 Sherwood Ave. is a special kind of house.

The main floor.

As you enter the home you’re greeted by soaring ceilings and an open concept layout.

The living room.

The living room features a gas fireplace with a brick surround.

The dining room.

The dining room has tons of natural light thanks to the cathedral glass ceiling above it.

The kitchen.

The kitchen might be one of the more dated parts of the house, but it’s still a classic with sleek white cabinetry, quartz counters and terracotta floors.

The breakfast room.

There’s also an adjoining breakfast room.

The family room.

The family room is large and bright with floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows and direct access to the backyard.

A bedroom.

Upstairs you’ll find the bedrooms.

A bedroom turned into a sitting room.

Unlike more modern houses, three of the four bedrooms have to share the one main bathroom.

The primary bathroom.

And if we’re honest, the bathrooms need a refresh.

The primary bedroom.

But the primary suite comes with its own ensuite as well as a walk-in closet and a walk-out to a covered balcony.

The basement recreation room.

There’s an extra 1,400 square feet of living space in the basement with a bedroom, kitchenette, recreation room, gym and laundry. It also has a separate entrance and walks out to the garden, so it could make an ideal in-law suite or rental unit.

A patio.

As for outdoor space, 165 Sherwood Ave. is blessed with a very large backyard thanks to it being on a deep 182-foot lot.

The backyard.

165 Sherwood Ave. is listed for $3,395,000.
