It’s a particularly tough time to secure a job in Toronto right now, especially one that can cover the high costs of rent, food and other rising expenses of living in the city.
But, one international airline that’s looking for Toronto talent right now boasts some pretty great work perks, the most attractive of which is free company-provided accommodation.
Emirates, which is regularly rated one of the world’s best carriers, has been hosting career fairs across Canada to fill a number of cabin crew roles.
It held one such event at the Novotel Toronto in January, and is back with yet another hiring spree at the same location this month.
Candidates interested taking advantage of a tax-free salary plus medical benefits, a number of travel and lifestyle discounts, and the aforementioned free rent in Emirates’ home base of Dubai, can head to Novotel at 45 The Esplanade at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25 for the event, which will take place all day.
Staff will be on-site to give you a rundown of the available positions and what they’re looking for, as well as what it would be like working for the brand and living in the United Arab Emirates.
You can also fast-track your application by taking a series of tests and activities, and participating in an interview at the venue on the day of.
Attendees are encouraged to pre-register online, wear business attire, and bring their resume, ID and relevant educational certificates in physical and/or digital form to submit on the spot and get their application going.
If selected, you will undergo 7.5 weeks of training in Dubai, which covers everything you’ll need to know about safety, security, service and more.
Emirates will also be hosting job fairs in Calgary, at the Wesley Calgary Downtown on March 23, and Vancouver, at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown on April 23.
Hopefuls should make sure they are fluent in English, able to reach 212 cm high for luggage stowage, and have at least a High School diploma and one year of hospitality or customer service experience.
Unfortunately, Emirates workers are not permitted to have any visible tattoos while in uniform, so consider that if you have any ink. And, as mentioned, you must be willing to relocate to Dubai for the gig, which could be considered the most exciting adventure by some, or a big ask by others.
