Bell Canada launches its own new smartphone brand called Ahlo

Bell has launched a new smartphone brand called Ahlo.

The carrier says the phone has been designed in Canada with “value-conscious users” in mind. That said, it’s likely assembled in other parts of the world. So far, Bell hasn’t shared the phone’s manufacturer.

The phone is now available for $270 outright or $1 per month at Bell or Virgin Plus (for a limited time) — a steal compared to $1,161 or $32 per month for the iPhone 16. You can also buy it through various Canadian retailers, but this deal price appears to be locked to Bell/Virgin’s network.

The new smartphone is aimed at “value-conscious users” with a far cheaper price tag than competitors.

Here are some of its specs and features:

  • 6.58″ FHD+ display
  • 50MP quad camera
  • 5,000 mAh battery
  • 5G connectivity
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • Android 14 OS
  • USB-C connectivity (cable included)
  • 24-month warranty

The phone will be available through Bell and its Virgin Plus flanker brand, as well as the following retailers:

  • Best Buy Express
  • The Mobile Shop
  • Staples
  • Tbooth wireless
  • Visions Electronics
  • Wireless Kiosk @Costco
  • WirelessWave
