Delta Air Lines announced earlier today that it would be offering compensation to those on the plane that crashed at Pearson Airport in Toronto.

76 passengers and 4 crew members survived the harrowing  ordeal that saw flight 4819 arriving from Minneapolis burst into flames on Monday afternoon after its wing clipped the runway upon landing among heavy wind gusts in Toronto.

Delta’s payout comes with “no strings attached” according to the airline and is available to all passengers regardless of whether they were among the 21 who ended up at a local hospital or were among those who walked away with just some bumps and scrapes.

Of the 21 passengers sent to hospital, all but one has now been released.

According to the airline, Delta assisted passengers with hotels, meals, transportation and other personal needs after the incident. They have also been trying to reunite passengers with the luggage and personal belongings that were recovered from the wreckage.

The aircraft has not yet been fully removed from the runway.

According to law firm Rochon Genova, they have been retained by some of the passengers on the flight and will be seeking additional damages for their pain and suffering.

Some passengers could be entitled to as much as $284,000 above and beyond the $30,000 Delta has offered.

New videos from the crash are still emerging on social media. One video shows a passenger on their phone moments after the crash while others remain suspended upside down buckled into their seats.

Flights have been arriving and departing Pearson Airport all day but there are still some delays and cancellations. Sunwing announced it cancelled 13 flights that were supposed to depart from Pearson today.
