Swiss Chalet frozen chicken nuggets is under recall across Canada after pieces of bone led to reports of injuries.
On Feb. 19, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall warning the general public of a batch of Swiss Chalet Chicken Breast Nuggets.
According to food processing company Olymel, the recall was prompted by reports of injuries linked to consuming the product, which was found to contain “extraneous material.”
“The affected product is being recalled from the marketplace due to possible presence of pieces of bone,” states the recall.
According to the CFIA, the affected lots are Swiss Chalet’s 700 g box of chicken breast nuggets with the Universal Product Code (UPC) 066701011479 and best-before codes BB 2025 SE 07 and BB 2025 SE 26. The code is printed on the exterior packaging and can be found along the side of the box.

The public is asked to check if they have the affected product and not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute the recalled product. If you discover that you have the recalled item, throw it out or return it to the location where it was purchased.
Never try to sell, redistribute, or give away recalled products. The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits those actions.
The agency didn’t state how many units were part of the recall or how many injuries were reported.
“The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products,” reads the statement. “The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled products from the marketplace.”
The recall has been categorized as a class 2, which means that there’s a moderate risk that consuming the food may lead to short-term or non-life-threatening health problems.
