Following comments made about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s attire during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice-President JD Vance on Feb. 28 in the Oval Office, members of the Ukrainian Club of Moncton, N.B., are rallying in support of the leader.
Natalia Haidash, a volunteer with the club, expressed frustration over the attention given to Zelenskyy’s clothing.
“Whenever I see that events in Ukraine take a turn in the wrong direction, I know the best cure for that is to take some action,” she said.

The club is now selling black long-sleeve shirts featuring the Ukrainian trident, inspired by Zelenskyy’s. The idea came after a Facebook message from one of the club’s members asking if the club sold “Zelenskyy-style shirts.” Haidash shared the concept with fellow volunteers, who quickly got behind the initiative.
In just over a week, the club has received more than 150 orders for the shirts, with requests coming from across the country.
“My phone exploded from the messages,” Haidash said.
The proceeds from the sales will go toward purchasing and delivering critical supplies to Ukraine’s front line.
For Alina Dymarchuk, who designed the shirts, the focus was never on Zelenskyy’s attire.
“It didn’t matter to me what he was wearing. The main point was he was there to fight for his country,” Dymarchuk said.
