Trudeau has words for Trump after Canada’s 4 Nations championship win over U.S.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was ready following Team Canada’s OT win over the United States.

Following Connor McDavid’s electrifying golden goal to secure Canada the 4 Nations championship, Trudeau took to social media with a subtle jab at U.S. President Donald Trump.

“You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game,” Trudeau wrote.

You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game.

This comes after a relentless series of statements made by Trump referring to Canada as the 51st American state.

This strange statement was first made by the 78-year-old president back in December and was initially played off by many as a joke. As he continued to say it, however, it started rubbing some Canadians the wrong way.

Notably, he has referred to Trudeau as the “governor” of Canada rather than the prime minister. Trump repeated the statement Thursday in a post to his Truth Social account.

Before the anticipated final between Canada and the United States, Trump called Team USA. It was a close game as the two countries couldn’t figure things out in regulation and it required multiple game-saving stops from Canadian goaltender Jordan Binnington to help Canada get the win.

Trump has been trying to stir up the thought of the American flag being flown in Canada, but following this game, it was the red and white maple leaf that was flying high on American soil.

Trudeau reiterated what we all knew: Hockey is still Canada’s game.
