Grammy-nominated musician opening sandwich shop in Toronto

A Grammy-nominated musician is taking a turn for the tasty as she gears up to open a brand-new sandwich shop in the city.

Toronto-based singer, songwriter and producer Charlotte Day Wilson is no stranger to the spotlight.

Ever since releasing her first EP in 2012, the hometown hero has consistently proven herself a formidable representative for the city’s (and Canada’s) music scene, earning scores of Juno, Polaris Music Prize and, in 2025, Grammy nominations over the years.

It would be all too easy for Charlotte, whose star remains on the rise, to pack her bags, bid Toronto adieu, and set her sights on Hollywood; but, instead, she’s giving back to Toronto with something the city’s residents can really sink their teeth into: a sandwich shop called Tutto Panino.

If the name strikes you as at all familiar, it could be because the venture actually began as a pop-up at Burdock Brewery’s Kensington location in the summer of 2024.

A collaboration between Charlotte, Paul Liliani, Andi Larocca and Kaitlyn Lasagna, the pop-up served a droolworthy selection of Italian-style panini (think mortadella and chicken verde) alongside almost-too-cute-to-eat cannoli.

I mean, what could be better?

Nowadays, though, the team is planting their roots and setting up shop at a permanent location in the Roncesvalles area which, a representative from Tutto Panino tells me, will hopefully be opening up this spring.

Continuing the tradition that made them a cult favourite over the span of one summer, the permanent shop will serve Italian sandwiches and canoli in a takeout capacity, which is great news, because sandwiches are the ultimate travel food and Roncesvalles is the ultimate walking neighbourhood — truly a match made in heaven.

The sandwich shop boom in Toronto has been unrelenting over the past few years, and I, for one, hope never to see it cool off. Tutto Panino might be one of many, but there’s no such thing as too many sandwich shops, right?

At the time of publication, the exact opening date and address of Tutto Panino are still under wraps, so keep an eye on their Instagram account and website for the latest news.
