A Nova Scotia musician has ended a civil lawsuit against Google he filed in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice earlier this year.

Cape Breton fiddler Ashley MacIsaac claimed the online giant defamed him by falsely identifying him as a sex offender in an AI-generated summary.

In a statement of claim, he said the summary falsely asserted he had been convicted of a series of offences including sexual assault, internet luring involving a child and assault causing bodily harm.

The Juno Award-winner also claimed in the lawsuit that the summary wrongly stated that he had been listed on the national sex offender registry.

MacIsaac filed the notice of discontinuance to the Ontario court on July 29.

Neither MacIsaac or Google immediately responded to requests for comment.
